It's time to explore the U-Bahn network here just like I did in Berlin (scroll down my page to see the Berlin project or check @berlin_memories). Today, just few general notions: the Munich U-Bahn began operation in 1971 (on 19 October 1971 the first line commenced operations between Kieferngarten and Goetheplatz with a total length of 12 kilometers). It is operated by the municipally owned Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (the Munich Transport Company) or MVG. The Munich U-Bahn system currently comprises eight lines, serving 96 stations (100 stations if four interchange stations with separate levels for different lines are counted twice), and encompassing 103.1 kilometres (64.1 mi) of routes. The trains operate at speeds up to 80 kilometres per hour (50 mph), which is the top speed among German U-Bahns. There is no continuous operation during the night (break from 1 to 4 am, 2 to 4 am on weekends) except on special occasions such as New Year's Eve. Also, except for very few stations along U5 and U6, all lines are completely underground. I will post a picture of a random station each day. Bear with me, some stations are quite anonymous. Feel free to comment and add any extra info you might have on each station. I hope you enjoy the project 🚇😘 . . . . . . . . #minga #ubahnhof #ubahnstation #minimalhunter #diewocheaufinstagram #outofthephone #muenchen #metropolitan #ubahn #ignantpicoftheday @ignant #agameoftones #munich #lesphotographes #guardiancities #thecreatorclass #huntgramgermany #skrwt #seemycity #subwaystation #metrostation #berlin #minimalist #citylife #urbanphoto #underground #subwayart #killtheunderground #subways #metropolis
